Asian Spiced Pecans
Makes about 24 (1-ounce) servings
Easy, tasty, and far cheaper than their commercially-prepared compadres, you’ll love these nuts as a spicy appetizer or with coffee after dinner. Any spice combination you enjoy will work, as long as the spices live together happily.
Ingredients
2 egg whites
3 cups pecan halves
Garlic spice blend
2 tablespoons each garlic salt, black pepper, paprika, Japanese Dashi
Ginger spice blend
2 tablespoons ground ginger
2 tablespoons paprika
6 tablespoons Splenda granular
1 teaspoon cayenne (or to taste)
General Instructions per serving
- In a zip bag, combine all ingredients in either the garlic spice blend or the ginger spice blend. Shake well to combine
- Lightly beat egg whites.
- Toss nuts in egg white and sprinkle with your choice of the spice blends
- Spread out on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake at 225 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Let cool and put into a jar or zip bag.
