Asian Spiced Pecans
Makes about 24 (1-ounce) servings

Easy, tasty, and far cheaper than their commercially-prepared compadres, you’ll love these nuts as a spicy appetizer or with coffee after dinner. Any spice combination you enjoy will work, as long as the spices live together happily.

Ingredients
2 egg whites
3 cups pecan halves

Garlic spice blend
2 tablespoons each garlic salt, black pepper, paprika, Japanese Dashi

Ginger spice blend
2 tablespoons ground ginger
2 tablespoons paprika
6 tablespoons Splenda granular
1 teaspoon cayenne (or to taste)

General Instructions per serving

  1. In a zip bag, combine all ingredients in either the garlic spice blend or the ginger spice blend. Shake well to combine
  2. Lightly beat egg whites.
  3. Toss nuts in egg white and sprinkle with your choice of the spice blends
  4. Spread out on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake at 225 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes.
  5. Let cool and put into a jar or zip bag.
