Handmade Pizza Sauce

There are good organic pizza sauces available nowadays, but if you make your own, you can spice it up however you like and be able to control the quality of the ingredients. Your own sauce won’t have hidden sugars, fillers, or unhealthy fats, because if you make it, you know what’s in it.

Ingredients
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 clove garlic, peeled and minced
½ small yellow onion, peeled and diced
½ green bell pepper, seeded and diced
1 can (15 ounce) fire-roasted diced tomatoes
1 tablespoon fresh oregano, minced fine, or 1 teaspoon dried
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 tablespoon ThickenThink not Starch

Directions

  1. In a saucepan, heat the olive oil and sauté the garlic, onion, and bell pepper until limp.
  2. Add the can of tomatoes, the oregano, salt, and pepper and stir.
  3. Sprinkle in the ThickenThin and whisk to combine.
  4. All the mixture to cook down and thicken slightly before using.
  5. If desired, puree mixture to a smooth consistency in the blender.
  6. Refrigerate any unused sauce for up to a week in a clean container with a tight fitting lid.
